Cell Operation And Belt For Fourteen Police Services

A concerted operation for the use of the cell phone at the wheel and seat belt wearing will be held from 11 to 17 November in the district of Montreal, Laval, Laurentides and Lanaudière.

As part of this large-scale operation, 14 police services present on this territory together, to carry out many procedures throughout the road network in their respective territories.

This operation aims to raise awareness of the dangers of cell phone use behind the wheel and the fact of not wearing the seatbelt.

The use of a mobile phone at the wheel greatly decreases the concentration of the driver and causes a large number of collisions each year. In addition, reduced safety belt wearing of half the risk to be killed or seriously injured in a collision.

It should be noted that particular interventions are planned in the evening of November 15, between 4 pm and 7 pm.

Participating police services are the Sûreté du Québec, the municipal police of Blainville, Deux-Montagnes, Laval, Mascouche, Mirabel, Montreal, Mont-Tremblant, Repentigny, Saint Eustatius, Saint-Jérôme, the assumption-Saint-Sulpice, Terrebonne and Thérèse – De-Blainville.
