Since the creation of the cell phone, the principals of schools are faced with a dilemma: should they ban cellphones in schools? If not, when and where students can use it?
Some schools maintain hard line to reduce the risk of skidding (intimidation, cheating, inattention in class, etc.
Other schools choose, instead, to doze the rules regarding the cellular and decide to be more lenient. Cell phones are permitted in strategic locations, such as in the cafeteria, but obviously not allowed in class. The professors believe that by allowing access to the cell phone in some places in the school, students will be less tempted to use secretly in class. But, as you can see, this is not always true… There are advantages and disadvantages to the cell. If used intelligently, a student can do an Internet search, save a course, an informative website Youtube video, communicate with another class by videoconference, create a slideshow, calculate data and more.
However, let us not deceive ourselves, there are also negative points to the cell phone in class. Indeed, he opened a very large door to loss of concentration of students, who clearly prefer “texter” with their friends, rather than listening to in the classroom. Some students are the ‘experts’ to ‘text’ in the classroom and go unnoticed. Also, these gadgets allow filming of blunders by teachers without their knowledge. In addition, it is not all parents who have the same financial resources to the purchase of such an object with their child. Even if the device was funded by the Government to make it accessible in the classroom, how teachers could make sure that the phone is used intelligently?
When asked for the opinion of the students on this question, it is no surprise that there is that they are against the banning of the cell at the school. In a survey conducted at the Summit school, most (182) responded No to the question “should we ban cellphones in schools? ” Eighteen students think that limit the use of the cell in some places, as in the cafeteria, is a good idea. Only three students at my school believe that should prohibit cell phone in school. It is very worrying to see how adolescents are unable to dispense with their phone. Although it is forbidden to have a cellphone in class, the majority brings it and uses it in secret. It is difficult to understand why teenagers have as much need of their cell. This is not a few hours without it that prevent them from living.
